Apple has banned its employees from using ChatGPT.
ChatGPT, which was made available to everyone in November 2022, reached millions of active users in just a few days. The AI chatbot is being used in the technology sector for repetitive tasks such as coding and document summarization. However, the biggest danger of this situation was revealed with Samsung’s leak incident. Apple, who didn’t want to experience this incident themselves, has reportedly banned its employees from using chatbots to prevent sensitive information from being leaked, just like Samsung. The Wall Street Journal obtained documents revealing that Apple has banned chatbots as well as GitHub’s Copilot assistant. The documents also revealed that Apple has developed AI-supported assistant technologies for its employees, but no information is available about these technologies. ChatGPT has also been banned by JPMorgan Chase and Verizon, while Amazon has advised its employees to use tools within the company rather than implementing a direct ban.
